Understanding the Need

Every community faces unique challenges. These facts help explain why Duality Project exists and why community-driven action matters.

On a single night in 2024, approximately 771,480 people were experiencing homelessness in the United States, including individuals, families, veterans, and youth.

Homelessness has increased in recent years due to rising housing costs, economic instability, and limited access to affordable housing in many communities.

The United States no longer relies on traditional orphanages. Instead, approximately 330,000–350,000 children are in foster care at any given time.

Each year, thousands of young adults leave foster care without permanent family support. Many face challenges related to housing, employment, and education as they transition to independence.

Studies estimate that between 3,500 and 4,500 children live in residential care homes across Ghana.

Many children in under-resourced communities face barriers to education, healthcare, and access to essential supplies. Community support can help create opportunities and improve quality of life.

Duality Project is a youth-led, fiscally sponsored nonprofit that works to support communities in the United States and Ghana through outreach initiatives, essential supplies, partnerships, and volunteer-driven efforts.

While the challenges may look different, both countries face issues related to poverty, housing instability, and limited access to resources. Duality Project believes meaningful impact can be created by supporting communities both locally and globally.
